(NEW YORK) -- Veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley announced that this season will be his last in the NFL as he is set to retire from the game of football.

The 37-year-old Stokley told the Denver Post that three weeks ago after being placed on Injured Reserve because of a concussion, he was sure of his decision.

"I'm glad I played this year because now I know I'm done," Stokley told the Post. "Had I not played this year I would have always felt I could have kept playing. I still know I can play but my body just can't go through it anymore.

This marks the end of a 15-year career for Stokley, who won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens as well as the Indianapolis Colts.

In six games this season, Stokley caught 13 passes for 115 yards.

Stokley retires with 397 career catches for 5,339 yards and 39 touchdowns. He's also one of just 18 wide receivers in NFL history to play for 15 or more seasons.
