Price Is Right Again; Rays Win
For his second straight start since coming of the disabled list, Price was stellar, this time pitching a complete game and leading the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Price had been on the DL since May 16 with a strained left tricep. Before being placed on the DL, Price, who won the AL Cy Young Award last season, had struggled to a 1-4 record with a 5.24 ERA. In his last two games, Price has 15 strikeouts and allowed only one run.
"That injury was kind of a blessing in disguise, just letting me kind of regroup, hit the reset button on my mindset and everything," Price said. "I'm right where I need to be right now, and we still have a lot of baseball left."
The Rays (49-40) have now won eight of nine and are tied with Baltimore for the second Wild Card spot in the AL.
Meanwhile, the White Sox (34-51) are moving in the opposite direction. They have lost nine of 11.
