(PHOENIX) -- The Phoenix Suns named player development director Lindsey Hunter as the interim coach Sunday, replacing Alvin Gentry.

The Suns and Gentry decided to mutually part ways Friday following the team’s 98-94 home loss to Milwaukee. The victory, snap the Bucks 26-year winless streak in Phoenix.

The 42-year-old Hunter will take over a club that has lost 13 of their last 15 games. They own the worst record in the Western Conference at 13-28.

Hunter played in the NBA for 17 seasons, winning the NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2002 and the Detroit Pistons in 2004. He retired following the 2009-10 season with the Chicago Bulls.
