Phil Jackson Has Faith Kobe Bryant Will Return to His Old Self

Doug Pensingers/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Even though it is unknown when or if Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will return to the court this season, Bryant's former head coach, Phil Jackson, thinks that when he does return he'll be back to his usual self.

"I think he'll be back," Jackson said. "I think Kobe is going to be still a scorer. He can score."

"We saw Michael Jordan at the end of his career still scoring 20 points a game and he was 37-38, I think. Maybe he was 38-39, I can't really remember. But I think Kobe can still post up," he continued.

"I think he can still be a good screen-role player," Jackson continued. "He's going to hit shots. He can still shoot the 3-pointer. I think he's really realistic about it. He's really pleased. He felt like, you know, I will come back."

Bryant missed the first month of the season after recovering from a torn Achilles. Bryant played in just six games before injury his knee.

Bryant has averaged 25.5 points per game during his 18-year-career, but was averaging 13.8 points per game in six games this season.
