Navy QB Sets NCAA Record in 3OT Win

First and Forth(SAN JOSE, Calif.) – Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds set an NCAA record on Friday night, rushing for seven touchdowns in the Midshipmen’s 58-52 win over San Jose State.

The sophomore rushed for 240 total yards on just 36 carries in the victory.

After trailing 16-10 at halftime, Reynolds led his team in a back-and-forth affair that saw the two teams tied at 38 after regulation.

Both squads traded touchdowns in the first two overtimes before Navy intercepted San Jose State quarterback David Fales to start the third extra session.  Reynolds then ran 25 yards for his seventh score, and the game winner.

Reynolds became just the fourth quarterback in school history to run for over 1,000 yards and pass for over 1,000 in the same season. His seven TD runs give him 26 on the year, making him just the ninth quarterback in NCAA history to post more than 20 in one season.

It also puts him one rushing score shy of the single season mark set by Kansas State’s Collin Klein (2011) and former Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs (2009).

The Midshipmen improved to 7-4 on the season while the Spartans fell to 5-6.
