Michigan State's Tom Izzo Says He's Not Going to NBA
(NEW YORK) -- As more jobs open around the NBA, rumors keep circulating whether or not Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo will jump ship to the NBA. According to Izzo, he's not going anywhere.
"First of all, I'm going to be at Michigan State," Izzo told ESPN. "If somebody made me an offer to be the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers that was so good that it would impress everybody, does that mean I would never say never? I'm not doing that anymore. I've seen too many people get stung that way."
Izzo's name has come up as a potential candidate for the open Detroit Pistons job, and there could be more rumors once the playoffs end.
Izzo has been with the Spartans since 1995 and is one of the most respected coaches in college basketball. He's made seven Final Fours and won one NCAA Championship during his time there. Izzo has 468 career wins at Michigan State.
