McCown Leads Bears Past Cowboys

Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images(CHICAGO) -- Chicago Bears backup quarterback Josh McCown threw for 348 yards, four touchdowns and ran for another as the Bears ripped the Dallas Cowboys 45-28, Monday night.

The score was actually tied 14-14 with less than two minutes to play in the first half, but the Bears proceeded to score 28 unanswered points to blow the Cowboys away.

The game was played in extreme cold, with the temperature sitting in single digits. Cold weather like that might be a problem for a team from Dallas, but Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett wasn't buying that.

"I thought we handled the weather well to be honest with you," Garrett said to the media after the game. "The field was good. It was cold but it seemed everyone handled the ball pretty well."

Too bad for the Cowboys the Bears handled it better.

The Bears gained 497 total yards of offense and put up their highest point total of the season.

Much of that had to do with McCown.

McCown has started the last four weeks in place of Jay Cutler, who is nursing a high ankle sprain. During that time the Bears are 2-2 with wins over Baltimore and now Dallas.

"He's comfortable out there," Bears running back Matt Forte said of McCown. "No game is too big for him. I'm proud of Josh and he's doing a great job."

So is Chicago (7-6), which is now tied atop the NFC North with Detroit. Meanwhile Dallas (7-6), sits a game behind Philadelphia for first in the NFC East.
