L.A. Dodgers Place SS Hanley Ramirez On 15-Day D-L
(LOS ANGELES) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers placed shortstop Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a right oblique strain. The move is retroactive to August 9.
Ramirez was removed during the first inning of Friday night’s 9-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. In 100 games this season, he's batting .277 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs.
The Dodgers recalled infielder Darwin Barney from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Ramirez’s roster spot. The 2012 Gold Glove award winner was acquired on July 28 from the Chicago Cubs for minor league-right-handed pitcher Jonathan Martinez. He’s batting .230 with two homers and 16 RBIs in 72 games.
