Houston Rockets Sign Ronnie Brewer
(HOUSTON) -- The Houston Rockets continued their busy offseason Wednesday, signing veteran guard Ronnie Brewer to a contract.
Brewer gives the Rockets a high-energy, defensive presence who can help guard the top guards and forwards in the Western Conference. He averaged 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in just over 14 games last season with the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Utah Jazz drafted Brewer with the 14th pick in the 2006 draft. The Rockets hope he shoots the ball as well as he did during his first three seasons in Utah, where he shot over 50 percent from the field.
The Rockets also added All-Star center Dwight Howard to a max contract last month. With Howard, James Harden, and Chandler Parsons leading the way, the Rockets are expected to be one of the top teams in the West this season.
