Griner, Baylor (1) Top UConn (3)
Cooper Neill/Getty Images(HARTFORD, Conn.) -- A big second half gave the number one team in the country another win over UConn.
Brittney Griner scored 25 points to lead the top-ranked Baylor Bears past the third-ranked UConn Huskies, 76-70 on Monday night at the XL Center.
Griner, who finished with 21 points in the second half, surpassed the 3,000 point mark in her career at Baylor. Griner said that she became more assertive in the second half.
"Just got more aggressive," Griner said. "Coach told me I need to be more aggressive in the paint, go to the goal, so that's what I did."
UConn (24-2) led by three at halftime, but saw its lead slip away and their 12-game winning streak end. "We're just not good enough yet to beat these guys tonight," Huskies coach Geno Auriemma said.
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 26 points and 15 rebounds for UConn.
