Florida Gators Remove Aaron Hernandez Brick, Photos

J. Meric/Getty Images(NEW YORK) --  The Florida Gators are doing everything they can to erase their memory of Aaron Hernandez.

When Hernandez was arrested and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd in June 26, the school began removing photographs of Hernandez throughout its football facility.

On Thursday, Florida will dig up and remove a brick outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium honoring Hernandez, who is a former All-American at the school.

Florida players who have been named All-Americans are honored with a brick in their name, which is located on the Gator Walk entrance in front of the stadium.

"We didn't feel it was appropriate to celebrate Aaron Hernandez. We put together an immediate plan after the initial news broke to remove his likeness and name in various private and public areas in the facility, such as the South Endzone team area, locker room, football offices, Heavener Complex Kornblau Lobby and the brick display entrance to the football facility," the school said in a statement.

The 23-year-old Hernandez played at Florida from 2007-2009, earning All-American honors as a junior.  He was selected in the 2010 NFL draft by the New England Patriots.
