(NEW ORLEANS) -- Joe Flacco finally came out on top.
The fifth-year quarterback who often gets criticized as a player who "can't win the big one," just did. Flacco helped lead the Baltimore Ravens to a 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, winning the game's MVP in the process.
Flacco completed 22-of-33 passes for 287 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win. That wraps up a postseason in which Flacco threw for 11 touchdowns, tying a postseason record, and zero interceptions.
While many observers have been slow to give Flacco any credit, teammate Ray Lewis is a different story.
"I'm the biggest Joe Flacco fan ever," Lewis said. "And I told him last night, If you want to become elite...go win a Super Bowl. We did it. Joe Flacco is elite in my book."
