Djokovic Defeats Wawrinka In U.S. Open Men's Semifinals
(NEW YORK) -- (1) Novak Djokovic defeated (9) Stanislas Wawrinka in the men’s semifinals of the U.S. Open Saturday night in five sets, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The match lasted 4-hour, 9 minute.
In the third game of the fifth set, Wawrinka survived five break points and outlasted Djokovic. It took 21 minutes to play and lasted 30 points. After dropping the game, Djokovic came roaring back, breaking Wawrinka’s serve and not faltering as he improves to 20-7 in five-set matches.
Djokovic will attempt to win his second U.S. Open championship when he faces Rafael Nadal in the finals Monday night.
