STATE COLLEGE, Pa. The Nittany Lions finished the year 8-4 to end a challenging year that began with landmark sanctions from the NCAA for the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.
Ball Sets Career Touchdown Mark
Wisconsin running back Montee Ball set an NCAA record with his 79th career touchdown on a 17-yard run in the first quarter of the game against Penn State. The score broke a tie in the record book with Travis Prentice of Miami (Ohio), who had previously set the major college mark in 1999.

Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says interim football coach John L. Smith will not return next season. Arkansas began the season ranked in the top 10 but quickly fell out of the polls after a stunning loss to Louisianan-Monroe on Sept. 8. The Razorbacks finished with a 4-8 record including a 2-6 mark in the SEC.
