Brian Vickers Wins Sprint Cup Race at New Hampshire
(LOUDON, N.H.) -- Brian Vickers cruised into Victory Lane on Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Vickers pulled away during the final restart and won on the green-white-checkered finish.
Vickers finished .582 seconds ahead of Kyle Busch on the final restart to give the Michael Waltrip Racing team a win with the No. 55 Toyota.
The win snapped a 75-race winless streak for the part-time NASCAR Sprint Cup series driver.
Jeff Burton finished in third, followed by Brad Keselowski, and Aric Amriola.
Morgan Shepherd became the oldest to race in a Sprint Cup series at age of 71.
Shepherd started 41st in the 43-car field and completed 92 laps before he pulled into the garage.
"When I start hitting the wall or something, then maybe it's time to get out," Shepherd said. "I'm here as long as the Lord wants me to be. I'm here to encourage people to get off the couch and do something with their life."
Jimmie Johnson finished in sixth and has a 56-point lead over Clint Bowyer headed into Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 28.
