(PLANTATION, Fla.) -- His letter is signed, but mom still doesn't approve.  Five-star running back Alex Collins has finally signed with Arkansas, a day after his mother Andrea McDonald refused to sign his letter of intent.

McDonald wanted her son to stay closer to home and attend the University of Miami, according to Alex.  Instead, Collins' father Johnny, signed his letter of intent on Thursday and faxed the letter to Arkansas.

Collins, ranked as one of the top running backs in the ESPN 150, verbally committed to Arkansas on Monday, choosing the Razorbacks over Florida, Florida State, Miami and Wisconsin.

Following the announcement that Collins' letter had been signed by his father, McDonald hired the Cochran Firm, founded by the late Johnnie Cochran, to represent her, according to a news release.

"She cares about me so much she doesn't want me to make the wrong decision," Alex Collins said Thursday of the situation.
