Adam Scott Wins the Barclays
"I'm pretty shocked," Scott said after winning the first tournament in FedEXCup Playoffs. "There were so many guys out there with a chance and I really didn't think I had much of a chance. If you hang around the lead long enough, you're going to win some, you're going to lose some. And this one went my way."
Scott came into Sunday six-strokes off the lead, but the 33-year-old Aussie played a bogey-free round to finish the tournament at 11-under, one shot better than Tiger Woods, Justin Rose, Gary Woodland and Graham DeLaet.
Speaking of Woods, he had a back spasm on the 13th hole resulting in him hooking a ball into the swamp. Woods would bogey that hole and the 15th before he birdied the 16th and 17th setting up a putt to tie on the 18th green. Woods missed the putt as he settled for a tie for second.
At the conclusion of the event, the field for the four tournament FedEXCup Playoffs was cut from 125 to 100.
The win earned Scott 2,500 FedEXCup points putting him in second place, 162 points behind playoff leader Tiger Woods.
Friday, the playoffs head to Massachusetts for the Deutsche Bank Championship.
