Trailing 1-0 in the ninth, Jones launched a two-run home run off Mariano Rivera to help the Baltimore Orioles edge the Yankees 2-1 on Sunday and avoid a three-game sweep by their AL East rivals.

"It's off the greatest closer in the history of the game," Jones said. "I'll always remember it."

Rivera had converted his previous 41 save attempts at home dating back to 2010.  It was also only his second blown save in 31 attempts this season.

"I wanted it to be more in. Didn't get in enough," Rivera said. "It wasn't really a mistake, just good hitting."

Hiroki Kuroda dazzled for the Yankees, pitching seven scoreless innings.  David Robertson pitched 1-2-3 eighth before handing the ball to baseball's career saves leader.  Rivera wasn't able to get the job done and thus prevented the Yankees from sweeping the Orioles.

"Whenever it happens you're kind of shocked, that's how good he is," manager Joe Girardi said.

Darren O'Day (5-0) picked up the win for the Orioles.
