49ers Reveal Linebacker NaVorro Bowman Faces Lengthy Rehab
(SANTA CLARA, Calif.) -- As if it wasn't bad enough that the San Francisco 49ers were denied a second-straight trip to the Super Bowl by the Seattle Seahawks, they could be without All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman for the foreseeable future as the team acknowledges he faces a tough rehab.
"He's got healing ahead," head coach Jim Harbaugh said Tuesday. "He's got grueling rehab ahead. That is not the way that you would've wanted or foreseen this offseason to be after coming off what may have talked about -- and deservedly so -- of a defensive-player-of-the-year type of performance. Great year by Navorro."
During the NFC Championship Game, Bowman tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee during a goal line stand.
The 25-year-old Bowman has been one of the best defensive players in the NFL since his debut back in 2010. This past season, he finished the season with 145 tackles and five sacks.
Bowman wound up recording 14 tackles during the NFC Championship Game despite the injury.
