Soccer Star Hope Solo Arrested on Domestic Assault Charges
(KIRKLAND, Wash.) -- U.S. gold medal-winning goalkeeper Hope Solo was arrested Saturday morning on charges of domestic assault.
Officers responded to a 911 call of a disturbance at a home in Kirkland, Washington around 1 a.m., with the male caller saying a woman was "hitting people" and they could not get her to stop or leave the residence, according to a police report.
Police said Solo "appeared intoxicated and upset," and they observed injuries on her sister and 17-year-old nephew following the incident, which officers said was instigated by the soccer star.
Solo was arrested on two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence and booked into the South King County Detention Facility. She is being held without bail and is scheduled for a mandatory court appearance on Monday.
