Psychiatrist Needs More Time to Evaluate Alleged Movie Theater Shooter
(DENVER, Colo.) -- The state mental hospital in Colorado says it needs more time to evaluate the alleged Aurora movie theater shooter who has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
The judge had set a deadline of July 31 for the Colorado Mental Health Institute to complete its evaluation of alleged shooter James Holmes. But the hospital says it needs until mid-September to give the psychiatrist in charge more time to review a massive amount of documents related to the case.
The court has set a hearing for next week to talk about how that delay will affect the trial set to start next year.
