Indianapolis Colts Safety Joe Lefeged Arrested on Gun Charges
(WASHINGTON) -- Washington police tell ABC News that Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested Saturday morning after a brief pursuit in Northeast DC.
Lefeged, 25, was reportedly riding on Central Avenue NE with another man, 23-year-old Aaron Timothy Wilson, when police attempted to pull them over just after midnight. The pair attempted to flee, but police were able to pull them over after an approximately 5-block pursuit. It is unclear who was driving at the time.
Police retrieved a handgun from the car but would not go into any further detail.
Both Lefeged and Wilson were charged with carrying an unregistered firearm without a license and other gun-related offenses. They were also charged with having an open container in a motor vehicle.
Lefeged, a resident of Germantown, Md., was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football at Rutgers University.
