Arizona Hotshot Firefighter’s Widow Has Baby Boy

Misner Family/ABC15.com/ABC News(PRESCOTT, Ariz.) -- The widow of one of the Arizona Hotshot firefighters killed in June while battling a massive blaze has given birth to a baby boy.

Amanda Misner was 7 months pregnant when her husband, 26-year-old Sean Misner, died along with 18 other members of his fellow Prescott Granite Mountain Hotshots crew on June 30. On Aug. 22, Amanda gave birth to a baby boy.

Misner named the baby Sean, after his dad.

“At 8:13pm, Sean Jaxon Herbert Misner was born. 6 lbs. 15 oz. 19 3/4 inches tall. Congratulations Amanda! We love you and the little guy so very much. Nobody could have been as strong as you needed to be through everything, except for you,” a post on the Sean Misner Memorial Facebook wall said.

The fire killed 19 of 20 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew, who ranged in age from 21 to 43 years old. Authorities believe the wildfire began on a Friday with a lightning strike in Yarnell, Ariz., about 90 miles northwest of Phoenix, and spread to at least 2,000 acres by that Sunday amid triple-digit temperatures, low humidity and windy conditions.

The Yarnell fire was the deadliest day for U.S. firefighters since the 9/11 terror attacks, when 340 died.
