Woodlawn Ousted by Oblong
They won six consecutive regional titles and were crownedsectional champs the last four years, but will not repeat as state champions.
The Woodlawn Cardinals were bounced from the sectional semifinals Tuesday
night, losing 64-60 to Oblong. Trailing by eight (21-13) with 6:27 to play
before halftime, the Cardinals went on a 10-0 run in the next two and a half
minutes, to take a 23-21 lead. But the Panthers answered back with five
straight points to regain a lead they would not relinquish. Woodlawn senior
Gabe Owens scored 19 points. Other Cardinal seniors Kris Harlow and Matt
Kennedy finished with eleven and ten points, respectively. The Woodlawn
Cardinals end their season with a 26-4 record.
