Women’s golf closes fall with runner-up finish at Kaskaskia Invitational
CENTRALIA,Ill. - The Rend Lake College women’s golf team took runner-up at its
final outing of the fall season, the Kaskaskia College Invitational,
Sept. 28, at Greenview Golf Course in Centralia.
RLC’s
score of 367 was five strokes behind winner John A. Logan College. Rend
Lake won the event in 2011. Kaskaskia finished third at 390 and Lincoln
College came in fourth at 404.
Lady
Warriors Head Coach Cindy Corn said while there were some strong
individual performances, her team did not have its best day on the golf
course.
RLC
freshman Nina Jackson (Martinsville, Ind.) and sophomore Taylor Koeller
(Marissa) made the All-Tournament Team after shooting 89 and 91,
respectively. Jackson finished in a tie for third and Koeller took
fifth.
Other
players contributing to the Lady Warriors’ team score were sophomore
Lexie Shoemaker (Mount Vernon) at 91 and freshman Chandra Weddle
(Royalton) at 96. Kylee Henager (Mount Carmel) played as an individual
and shot a 99, as did Laura Bremer (Vienna), who finished with a 93.
