Wildcats fall to Trojans...Prep Basketball

(SALEM) - Once again it was the visitors hot shooting early in the game that sunk the Wildcats as Charleston hit 9 of their 11 three’s in the first half on their way to a 75-68. 

Nick Conklin led Salem with 26 points and 10 rebounds.  Alex Phillips added 14 while Donte Rush pulled down 10 rebounds and Nick Conklin grabbed a game high 16 rebounds. 

Salem is 1-7 and 1-1 in the Apollo as they have a week off before heading to Mattoon on Friday night. 

In other Apollo play, Effingham is 2-0 after their 53-39 win over Mattoon.  Mt Zion 1-1 with a 59-52 win over Paris.

The SC Cougars dropped their homecoming game to Altamont 56-32.  The Cougars are 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the NTC and will play Cowden Herrick on Wednesday in the first round of the St Elmo Holiday Tournament. 

Also last night, Centralia went to Cahokia and fell to the 2nd ranked Comanches 63-46.  Mt Vernon only had 1 field goal in the second half as they fell to Belleville Althoff 44-36.  Olney 48-40 over Red Hill, Nashville 48-40 over Sparta, Columbia 70-30 over Wesclin, Breese Central doubled up Red bud 66-33, Benton in overtime over Herrin 44-42, Robinson big over Cumberland 74-24, Waltonville 61-56 over North Clay, Mater Dei beat Woodlawn 41-25 from the SIU-Carbondale Shootout.  In the earlier game, Okawville routed Trico 48-28.
