WJBD - Local Sports - Sandoval Handles Marissa in Regionals

The Sandoval Lady Hawks advanced past the first round of the

Okawville 1A Regional Tournament with a convincing 53-31 win over Marissa.

Sandoval was firing on all cylinders in the first quarter, scoring 18 points

while holding Marissa scoreless. The Lady Hawks pushed that lead to twenty

points by halftime and coasted to the 22-point lead in the second half. Kristin

Perkins led Sandoval with twenty points. Bethany Kunick finished with ten.

Sandoval will face a familiar foe on Wednesday in the next round of the

regional tourney when they meet Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School at 7:30pm.
