Salem and Olney Lock Horns Tonight
TheSalem Wildcats continue to make headway in the final weeks of the regular
season, even if their record shows mounting losses. Salem is 3-17 overall and
3-5 in the Apollo Conference after last Friday night’s 78-68 Senior Night loss
to Mattoon.
The
Wildcats battled back from double-digit deficits several times in that loss to
the Green Wave, and in a game of streaks and runs, it was visiting Mattoon who
had the final say. Despite the loss, Salem continued to show the resilience
that has been their trademark in this tough 3-17 season. Imagine what they
could do if they led by seven points after the first quarter instead of
trailing by that same amount.
The
Wildcats are in the homestretch of their regular season with only four games
left before the regional tournament. The first of those games is tonight
against the very team they will face in the regional opener in two weeks.
Salem
travels to Olney for a contest with their former conference opponent. Toby
Gullion will join Bill Hawley for this Tuesday night battle between the Wildcats
and the Tigers, beginning at 7:45 on 100.1 FM WJBD and WJBDRadio.com.
