Salem Southwest Tops Nashville In Double HeaderNashville didn't stand a chance on Saturday, as the Salem Southwest Wildcats captured a blowout 10-3 win in seven innings at Nashville.
The Wildcats scored three runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Sam Beavin, and Mason McIntosh and Evan Maxey added RBI singles. Nick Conklin had two extra-base hits for the Wildcats. He homered in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh inning.
Zach Tate shut down Nashville while he was on the bump, giving up just one hit, and no earned runs. Tate walked three and struck out six during his five innings of work.
Salem continued its hot hitting in game two, topping Nashville 12-2 in five innings.
Salem jumped on top in the first, scoring five runs on a two-run double by Chance McCay, a groundout by Conklin, and a two-run single by Coleton Harness. Conklin racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Wildcats. He doubled in the second inning.
Harness got the win for the Wildcats. He allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out seven, walked five and surrendered three hits.
Salem is now 13-4.
