The Salem Senior Legion baseball team is into the consolation bracket after a 1-1 day at the district tournament.

Salem topped Patoka 9-8 in their first game, despite outhitting the seven-seeded team 13-1. Four pitchers climbed the mound for Post 128, with Alex Phillips earning the win in relief.

All hitters in Salem's lineup had at least one hit, with Pete Colclasure, Johnny Tolliver, Logan Phillips, and Kolton Morrison all having a two-hit game.

Salem and Effingham battled in the championship bracket before Effingham topped Post 128 5-4. Cameron Wilkins pitched two innings of relief and got saddled with the loss.

Johnny Tolliver reached base four times, doubling in the first inning and adding a single in the fifth. Colton Wilkins went 2-5 with a double, three runs driven in and a run scored.

With the loss, Salem drops into the consolation bracket where they face the loser of Friday night's Teutopolis/Vandalia contest.
