Salem Pitcher Signs at HannibalSalem Wildcat pitcher Aaron Ruckman has signed his scholarship letter to play baseball at Hannibal La Grange University after graduation. The senior made it official Tuesday afternoon at Salem Community High School.
Ruckman stated shortly after signing his letter that he selected Hannibal after a campus visit. “It seemed like a right fit for me once I got on campus. Everyone seemed really nice there, especially [Assistant] Coach [Darren] Funk.”
Ruckman added that there is a bonus of joining former Salem teammate Logan Phillips at Hannibal. “It’s really nice knowing someone there going into it…someone that I can talk to that I already know.”
Ruckman saw action in nine games for Salem last year, going 3-4 with twelve strikeouts and sixteen walks. However, Trojans Assistant Coach Darren Funk saw Ruckman in practice and noted the hurler’s command. Funk said the Trojans really like Ruckman’s ability to locate his change-up, something Aaron considers one of his strengths. “My change-up’s probably my best pitch. My weakness is probably my curveball. It’s still a work in progress.”
Hannibal La Grange University is a Division I NAIA institution located in Hannibal, Missouri. The Trojans are a member of the American Midwest Conference.
