Salem Dominates O'Fallon 2
TJ Alberson pitched a gem in the night's opener, allowing just two hits while striking out seven in a 10-0 five-inning win. Salem's offense was highlighted by Nick Conklin's two-run homer as the senior-to-be drove in three runs. Alberson went 2-2 with a pair of walks and scored a run. Zach Tate scored three runs for Salem and Wyatt McGhee crossed home plate twice.
Salem kept pounding the ball in the second game, scoring fourteen runs in the final two frames of a five-inning, 22-3 beat down. Coleton Harness went 4-4 with five runs batted in to lead the hot-hitting 'Cats at the plate. Tate, Jared Banning, Seth Crain, Mason McIntosh, and Chance McCay all had multi-hit games.
Salem Head Coach Brian Lipe was pleased with how the Cats played Friday.
"Anytime you play O'Fallon, it's a big game. I know that was their younger group, but even their younger group is a quality group. Good wins tonight. We hit the ball well. I thought we threw it well, so a good night overall."
Salem hosts Waterloo Gibault's squad on Sunday for a double header beginning at 1pm.
