Salem Concludes Regular Season Tonight
The Salem Wildcats conclude the 2012-2013 regular season tonight with a long trip to Mt. Zion to face the Braves on Senior Night.Salem is 3-20 after Tuesday night’s loss at Marion. The Braves enter tonight’s game with a 17-10 record, and winners of seven of their last ten games. However, with three conference losses already, they are not in the running for a share of the Apollo with Effingham. Mt. Zion has league losses to Effingham, Charleston, and Mattoon.
As much as a win, Salem needs to be competitive at the end of a game. The Wildcats’ last loss by ten points or less was on January 26 at the Pinckneyville Shootout, when they lost a three-point decision to Greenville. Too often, the Cats find themselves playing catch-up the entire game instead of having a lead.
Salem has one final chance to take some positive momentum into Monday night’s regional opener at Centralia, and that final chance is tonight when the Cats face the Braves in Mt. Zion. Bill Hawley and Greg Mehochko will have the call at 7:45 on 100.1 FM and WJBDRadio.com.
