SC Cougars Knock Off Sandoval On Senior Night
South Central's Brett Harmeier led a group of 4 in double figures with 16 points. Tyler Ross and Noah Powless each finished with 12 and Chase Riley added 10.
The Cougars lost one of their leaders in Evan Langley just 18 seconds into the game with an ankle injury. He did not return.
The game was tight throughout with the Cougars taking a 31-26 lead at the halftime break. Sandoval would cut it to 46-44 after three quarters. The game would be tied with 1:10 left when Kerrigan Henken stepped to the foul line and hit one of two free throws. Harmeier would hit 2 free throws with 11.4 seconds left to give SC the 3 points lead.
Sandoval had a final shot to tie, but sophomore LaRon Anderson's three at the buzzer was off the mark. He finished with 22 points in the loss. Brendan Williams was also in double figures with 12.
The Hawks did lead after the opening quarter 14-11.
SC (3-21) is back in action tonight with a home makeup game against Cowden Herrick while Sandoval will host Woodlawn.
