Register Now for Salem Rec Youth Soccer
The City of Salem Recreation Department's comprehensive soccer program places emphasis on the youth enjoying the sport, enhancing their self-esteem, and learning the basics of soccer. The age of the player on or before September 1, 2013, will be used when placing youth in
the appropriate league.
For 3 and 4 year olds (on or before September 1, 2013), First Kicks is an affordable introduction to structured athletic activity. This new program offered by Salem Recreation Department ensures a positive introduction to the game of soccer and organized athletic instruction. Instructor Kyle Kelley has put together a program that will entertain your child in a safe and fun environment, while teaching them the beginning basics of the game. First Kicks will meet on Monday evenings, September 9 through October 14, from 5-6p.m. A maximum of 25 will be accepted in this program.
Registration fee is $24 for players residing within Salem city limits, $30 for players residing outside Salem city limits. Registration forms are available at Salem City Hall or online at www.salemil.us.
Salem Recreation Department's fall soccer program is for youth who will be at least 5 years old, but no older than 9 years old, on or before September 1, 2013. Players in the First Kicks program who are 4 years old, but will turn 5 years old before December 31, 2013, may be "called up" to play in the Beginners League, with parent's permission, if needed to fill teams. Beginners League will consist of players who are 5 and 6 years old plus First Kicks players who may be "called up". Youth League will consist of players who are 7, 8, and 9 years old. Games will be played on Saturdays, with the season beginning on Saturday, September 7, continuing through mid-October. Registration fee is $32 for players residing within Salem city limits, $40 for players residing outside Salem city limits.
