Pana Wins Vandalia Holiday Tournament

Pana beat the host Vandals 56 to 44 to win the championship of the Vandalia Holiday Tournament Saturday night. Pana jumped to an early 13-4 first quarter lead and led 24 to 12 on their way to winning the championship. Pana was led by Tournament Most Valuable Player Robbie Hester, with 13 points.

Altamont beat Flora 54-45 to take third place. St. Elmo topped Maroa-Forsyth to win 5th place. Shelbyville downed South Central 30-27 to take 7th place. South Central led the low scoring game 15-11. Fischer Tharp had more than half of South Central's points, with 16. Tharp was named to the All-Tournament Team. In the ninth place game, Effingham St. Anthony beat Greenville 66-40.

Others making the All-Tournament team were Brody Bench of Shelbyville, Kyle Gibson of Pana, Garett Ziegler of Altamont, Jacob Schuette of St. Anthony, Michael Wells and Tim Ritchey of Vandalia, Levi Maxey of St. Elmo, Drew Ascherman of Maroa-Forsyth, and Ethan Leib of Flora.
