Orphans to Play for Regional Title
The Centralia Orphans had no trouble with the Olney Tigers,disposing of the East Richland squad 52-33 to advance to the regional
championship Friday night at CHS Arena. Orphan Junior Jake Wood had fifteen of
Centralia’s 27 first half points as the 3A Regional hosts built a 27-16 halftime
lead. Olney, usually proficient from three-point range, connected on just three
of nineteen attempts. The Orphans, meanwhile, were shooting 60% from the field
on the way to their twentieth win of the season. Wood finished the game with a
team-high seventeen points. Ryan Obermeier picked up the scoring in the second
half and finished with ten points for the Orphans, who face the winner of
tonight’s semifinal game on Friday. The two-seed Effingham Flaming Hearts face
three-seed Mascoutah at 7:30 tonight at CHS Arena.
