Orphans to Play for Regional Title

The Centralia Orphans had no trouble with the Olney Tigers,

disposing of the East Richland squad 52-33 to advance to the regional

championship Friday night at CHS Arena. Orphan Junior Jake Wood had fifteen of

Centralia’s 27 first half points as the 3A Regional hosts built a 27-16 halftime

lead. Olney, usually proficient from three-point range, connected on just three

of nineteen attempts. The Orphans, meanwhile, were shooting 60% from the field

on the way to their twentieth win of the season. Wood finished the game with a

team-high seventeen points. Ryan Obermeier picked up the scoring in the second

half and finished with ten points for the Orphans, who face the winner of

tonight’s semifinal game on Friday. The two-seed Effingham Flaming Hearts face

three-seed Mascoutah at 7:30 tonight at CHS Arena.
