Slow Start Dooms 'Cats in Elimination Game

Mt Vernon scored fourteen unanswered points before Salem was ever on the

scoreboard and the Rams cruised to a 74-38 consolation win to continue

their run in the 70th Annual Centralia Holiday Tournament. Salem exits

the tourney following back-to-back losses in the 8:30am time slot.

Salem scored just four points in the first quarter and trailed 41-16 at halftime en route to their unceremonious dismissal.

Four Mt Vernon players reached double figures in points, led by Jake Pike's fifteen. Trevor Flota had thirteen points and Michael Feezer and Braden Fitzjerrells each added eleven as the Rams had twelve players score points in the blowout.

Salem was paced by Nick Conklin's nine points, all in the second half. Donte Rush added eight as the 'Cats shot just 38.5% from the field.

With the early exit from the Centralia Holiday Tournament, Salem will be idle until the new year when they host Mt Zion on Friday, January 4.
