Keen's Homer Helps Salem Past Olney....Prep Softball ScoresOLNEY - For the third game in the last 9 days, every Salem Lady Wildcat starter had at least one hit as they erased a 4-2 deficit after the first inning and scored in 6 of their 7 at bats earning a 12-5 victory on the road at Olney.
With the game tied at 4-4 with 2 on and 2 outs in the third inning, Ashlynn Keen delivered the big blow of the game, a 3-run fence clearing homer. After that, Salem added single runs in the 4th 7 5th with 3 more in the 7th to seal the game.
Winning pitcher Mallory Daniels settled in after allowing 4 runs on 4 hits in the first. she allowed just 1 run on 7 hits the rest of the game.
Anissa Rasul had 3 hits, 3 runs and an RBI. Daniels, Kelly Sager and Taylor Jones all added 2 hits each with Daniels driving in two runs. Megan Molenhour also added a 2-run double.
Salem is off until Saturday when they head to Mattoon to take on the defending Apollo champion Green Wave.
In other softball action:
- Centralia used a six-run, sixth-inning to top Mt Vernon 10-7. The Annies are 8-2 on the year and 2-1 in South Seven play.
- Breese Central took control of their game with Carlyle with a six-run 2nd which included a grand slam from Torre Kohrmann in an 8-7 victory for the Lady Cougars.
