KC Runners Compete at Water-Logged Great Louisville ClassicThe Kaskaskia College men and women cross country teams traveled to Louisville, Kentucky for the rain-soaked Great Louisville Classic on Saturday. Both teams competed in the Silver Division with 44 other college teams at Tom Sawyer Park east of Louisville.
The Blue Devils finished 37th, led by AJ Abert of Alhambra with a time of 30:25 on the 8K course. He was followed by Jacob Heser and Elliott Brinkmeyer, both of Salem, with times of 30:43 and 30:47, respectively. KC's number-four counter was Paul Jansen of Breese Central with a time of 32:20, who finished just ahead of T-Town's Jesse Miller in 32:33.
The 5K Silver Division for the women's race was ran in a down pour, with results being "sketchy." The timing system went out about four minutes before the top racers were approaching the finish line. Also, several runners were unable to be identified at the finish by the camera system. The Blue Angels were lead by Laura Pick of Nashville, followed by Emily and Julie Walhdoff of T-Town. Next was Brittany Goff of Salem. The number 5 counter was Sably Whitelow of Neoga.
The Blue Devils and Blue Angels will travel to the Cowbell Classic on October 11th.
