Iuka and Odin Advance in Regionals
Junior high regional tournaments began last night, andbasketball fans saw two games at St. Theresa’s Mark Larimer Gymnasium in the
Class S Region 14 Tournament. In the opener, the Iuka Pirates edged past
Sandoval 38-34. Sandoval led going into the fourth quarter, but Iuka outscored
Sandoval 13-3 in the final frame to get the win. Dakota Barthelemy led the
Pirates with 14 points. TJ Thompson added ten. Garrett Howell paced Sandoval
with ten points.
In the opening night’s second game, St. Theresa led 14-11 at
halftime before Odin dominated the second half en route to a 48-20 win. Odin
held the Rascals scoreless in the fourth quarter while securing the victory
with a 24-point fourth quarter. Eric Schoonover led all scorers with 22 points
for Odin. Brandyn Easley had 16 for St. Theresa.
The Region 14 Tournament continues tonight at St. Theresa
when Patoka and Iuka meet at 6pm. Altamont Lutheran squares off against Odin at
7:15.
