Illini Players Take Big Ten Player of the Week Honors
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - The Big Ten's Players of the Week are both Illini athletes.Karisma Penn earned the honors for leading Illinois' women's team to a 70-59 win over then-6th ranked Georgia on Friday. The senior forward scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed a career-best 19 rebounds as Illinois handed the Lady Bulldogs their first loss of the season.
On the men's side, sophomore guard Tracy Abrams earned his Player of the Week nod for posting career highs with 27 points and eight rebounds. Abrams led Illinois to an 81-79 win over Auburn at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday.
