High School Basketball Wrap-Up: Christ Our Rock and Orphan Annies WinSouth Central fell to Flora 73-48 in Saturday boys basketball action. Flora jumped to an 18 to 3 first quarter lead and led 47 to 16 at halftime on their way to victory. South Central was led by Evan Langley with 12 points and Chase Riley with ten.
Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School won their fifth out of their last six games on Saturday as they beat New Athens 54 to 50. Christ Our Rock trailed entering the final quarter of play where they outscored New Athens 18-12. The contest went down to the final minute when Eli Palm picked off a New Athens pass and set up two free throws for Boehne. A missed three pointer by New Athens followed by two free throws by Joel Krenz gave Christ Our Rock the Victory. Christ Our Rock was led by Austin Grote with 23 points and Boehne with 16.

In girls basketball action, the Orphan Annies fell to Cahokia 52 to 45 in overtime. The Annies led 25-20 at half time and were up ten in the third quarter before Cahokia staged a comeback late in the third and early fourth quarter. Centralia limited Cahokia to just one point in overtime to claim the victory. Abbey Holtkamp led Centralia with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Holly Mays added 11 points. Centralia travels to Mascoutah on Tuesday.
Wayne City beat South Central 49 to 34. Abby Hahn led South Central with 13 points. South Central plays Oblong in the opening round of the Bridgeport Regional on Monday at seven pm.
