Franklin Park Tops Flora 8-5The Franklin Park Lady Bobcats picked up an 8-5 win over Flora last night.
Lady Bobcats Coach Tammy Casburn says her team was ready for this game.
"We were excited. We came with our game face on and held together. The defense played awesome."
A four-run fifth inning proved the difference maker in Salem's first win over Flora in recent memory.
Casburn explains that Flora is among the top teams in the area.
"Flora has always been the team to beat. I'm just glad we were the ones to do it."
Rachael Forehand was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits and issuing three walks.
Kaitlyn Maxey went 3-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Hannah Minton added a hit and scored twice. Olivia Chaplin finished 2-4.
Casburn says the Lady Cats were able to put all of the pieces together in the win over Flora.
"They just finally came around tonight. We've been practicing hard on bunting and hitting, but some of them were struggling. Tonight, they really pulled through and hit the holes and got around on the bases."
Salem hosts Breese Junior High today.
