Franklin Park Sweeps Olney InvitationalFranklin Park Middle School in Salem won both the boys and girls Olney Invitational on Saturday. The boys beat second place Jasper County 149 to 132 points. The Salem girls beat second place Olney 94 to 80 points.
The Salem boys had first place individual finishes from Clay Irwin in the shot and discus and Isaak Morton in the pole vault. Franklin Park second place finishes included Cole Steward in the shot, Caden Owens in the 400 and 800 meter runs, Hayden Wimberly in the 1600, and Connor Donoho in the sixth grade 100 meter run. Four relay teams also finished second. They were the seventh grade 4x200 relay team of Sarver, Allison, Wayer and Harness, the 6th grade 4x100 relay team of Donoho, Harness, K. Russell and Hays, the 4x200 relay team of Owens, Allison Ruckman and Barnfield and the 4X400 relay team of Wayer, Owens, Snodsmith and Morton.
The Franklin Park girls received first place finishes from Hailey Wimberly in the 400 meter run, Alyssa Vest in the 8th grade 100 meter and 200 meter races and the 4x100 relay team of Meadows, Barringer, Goostree and Vest. The girls received second place finishes from Chloee Phillips in the high jump, Hailey Wimberly in the hurdles and 7th grade 100 meter, and Chloee Phillips in the 800 meter.
Franklin Park hosts Trenton Wesclin and Flora in a 4pm meet on Monday at Salem Community High School.
