Four Franklin Park Records Set at State Meet
Bobcats set new Franklin Park records at the SIJHSAA Class L State Track Meet
at Carterville on Saturday.
Irwin set a new school record in the shot put (50’4”) while finishing second
and medaling. Teammate Cole Steward finished third in the shot.
Morton set a new school record in the pole vault (9’6”) and took third at the
state meet. Jimmy Allison was tied for fifth in the pole vault.
Owens set a new school record in the 800-meter run (2:18.2) while placing
fourth and the 4x400-meter relay team of Barnfield, Morton, Snodsmith, and
Owens took third and set a new school record (3:53.32).
Lady Bobcats’ highest finish was third place by Hailey Wimberly in the
400-meter dash. Wimberly also medaled with an eighth-place finish ub rgw
200-meter dash. Alyssa Vest took fourth in the 8th Grade 100-meter
dash. The varsity 4x100-meter relay team of Brittin, Vest, Goostree, and
Wimberly finished in fifth place.
