Four Area Teams Advance in Boys Junior High State Basketball TournamentFour area teams advance to the quarter final round of the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association State Tournament.
Centralia Trinity Lutheran, Rome, Patoka, and Woodlawn all won their first round games on Saturday. Trinity Lutheran beat Giant City 60-48, Rome beat Cisne 34 to 21, Woodlawn topped Bartelso 47 to 40, and Patoka beat All Saints Academy in Breese 54 to 41. Other first round games saw Carrier Mills beat Century 55-35, New Hebron beat Crab Orchard 44-35, St. John Catholic-Red Bud downed Bluford 29-28, and Pinckneyville Consolidated topped the Trinity St. John-Immanuel Lutheran Co-Op.
The quarter final games will be played at Rend Lake College on Monday. Trinity Lutheran-Centralia will meet Rome in the first game of the afternoon at 3:30. Carrier Mills will play New Hebron in the second game at 4:45. St. John Catholic-Red Bud plays Woodlawn at 6. Patoka takes on Pickneyville Consolidated in the night cap at 7:15 Monday night.
The winners advance to the semi-finals on Thursday. The championship and third place games will be held next Saturday.
