Cahokia Wins 70th Annual Centralia Holiday Tournament
The Cahokia Comanches are the champions of the 70th Annual Centralia Holiday Tournament. They beat Jacksonville 65 to 58 in the title game Saturday night.The Comanches were led by Keenan Minor and Vincent Jackson who both finished the game with 19 points. Josh Peak had 12 points and Dalton Keene 11 for Jacksonville. Cahokia jumped to a 38 to 24 half-time lead and held on to win despite being outscored in the second half.
Belleville West came from behind to beat Marist 53 to 49 and claim the third place trophy. Belleville West was led by Nick Van Osdale with 21 points, while Marist got 22 points from the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament L.J.McIntosh.
Alton won the Consolation Championship over St. Laurence 58 to 44.
Others making the All-Tournament Team were Keenan Minor of Cahokia, Nick Van Osdale of Belleville West, Josh Peak of Jacksonville and Josh Meier of Oak Lawn Richards. Centralia's Jerod Simmons-Young made the second conference team. Other second team members were Jim Schick of St. Laurence, Rashad Lindsay of McCluer North, Darius Austin of Cahokia, and Markies Goodwin of Belleville West.
