Walnut Hill Man Killed; Woodlawn Man Injured In Single Vehicle Crash
State Police report Travis Braddy was driving his car east bound when for an unknown reason he drifted off of the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and crossed the west bound lane. The car then skid into the roadside ditch and began to roll multiple times. Braddy was ejected as the car rolled over. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger.
A passenger, 25-year-old Luke Wegmann of Woodlawn, was transported to Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon and then airlifted to an Evansville, Indiana hospital for treatment.
State Police say Braddy was not wearing a seatbelt. Wegmann's seatbelt usage is under investigation.
The coroner reports alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident. Toxicology tests are being performed by the coroner. The Washington County Ambulance Service, Ashley Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police were all called to the scene.
