Iuka and Centralia Men Enter Guilty Pleas in Separate Aggravated Battery Cases
Two men have pleaded guilty to aggravated battery charges in Marion County Court.24-year-old Ryan McCarty of Front Street in Iuka pleaded guilty to breaking the nose of Matthew Ellis in an altercation that occurred after McCarty entered a home where he was sleeping on the couch. A home invasion charge for entering the home of Andrea Allison on North Sycamore Street in Iuka was dropped as part of the plea agreement. McCarty was placed on two years probation, ordered to pay court costs, and given credit for 77 days served in jail. Ellis declined hospital treatment for his injuries.
A 23-year-old Centralia man has pleaded guilty to aggravated battery for allegedly striking Ryan Klein in the parking lot of the Industrial Tavern in Wamac with his foot on June 18th. Travis Cooksey of West 17th was placed on two years probation, ordered to pay court costs, and given credit for 104 days served in the Marion County Jail. Klein sustained multiple cuts to his face in connection with the incident.
